Located in the heart of Birmingham, The HeArt Centre Dergah is a vibrant spiritual and creative sanctuary rooted in the Naqshbandi Sufi path.
Since its founding in 2003, it has welcomed souls from all walks of life to gather, remember, and grow together — through sound, learning, and sacred companionship.

 

 

Our Spiritual Lineage

At the heart of The HeArt Centre Dergah lies a living connection to the Naqshbandi Golden Chain — a sacred lineage of spiritual masters whose hearts are joined through unbroken remembrance of Allah ﷻ.
This noble chain extends back over fourteen centuries to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, carried by generations of saints who embody humility, wisdom, and love.

Through the blessings of this lineage — from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani to his successor Shaykh Mehmet Adil ar-Rabbani — the Dergah continues to serve as a beacon of light in Birmingham, guiding seekers toward purity of heart, remembrance, and divine connection.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani (1922–2014)

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani — may Allah sanctify his secret — was one of the most beloved and influential Sufi masters of our time.
Born in Cyprus in 1922, he was a direct inheritor of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain, carrying its light and wisdom to hearts across the world.

Guided by his master, Shaykh Abdullah ad-Daghestani (qaddasAllahu sirrah), Mawlana Shaykh Nazim dedicated his life to the remembrance of Allah ﷻ and the service of humanity.
His message was simple yet transformative: to love, to forgive, to remember Allah often, and to live with humility and mercy.

Through his gentle presence, humour, and compassion, he drew countless seekers to the path of Divine Love — transcending barriers of race, language, and culture.
It was through his spiritual guidance and blessings that The HeArt Centre Dergah in Birmingham was established in 2003, as part of the Naqshbandi Haqqani network of centres around the world.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim returned to his Lord in 2014, leaving behind a luminous legacy that continues to inspire hearts everywhere.
His light shines on through his appointed successor and beloved son, Shaykh Mehmet Adil (Q).

Shaykh Mehmet Adil ar-Rabbani (b. 1957)

Shaykh Mehmet Adil, the son and spiritual heir of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani, is the present Grand Shaykh of the Naqshbandi Haqqani Sufi Order.
Born in Damascus in 1957, he was raised in an atmosphere of deep knowledge, humility, and remembrance.
From his earliest years, he was nurtured among saints and scholars, preparing him to carry forward the luminous teachings of his noble father.

Today, Shaykh Mehmet resides in Istanbul, Turkey, from where he leads the Naqshbandi Haqqani Tariqa with serenity, balance, and steadfast love.
His teachings emphasise good manners (adab), sincerity, and constant remembrance (dhikr) — guiding seekers to live faithfully in a fast-changing world while keeping their hearts connected to Allah ﷻ.

Under his guidance, The HeArt Centre Dergah continues its mission of spiritual education, service, and remembrance, following the living tradition of the Golden Chain — a path of light that connects hearts to the Divine.
